CORE (2024)
for percussion quartet
CORE is designed to push the limits of the modern percussionist. The composition consists of recurring rhythmic loops and overlapping patterns, creating an uncommon feel and displacement of time. It is a product of post-minimalist development techniques combined with progressive/math rock. A vibraphone is at the center of the design, surrounded by four multi-percussion setups. Each multi-percussion setup belongs to a percussionist who shifts back and forth from their individual setup to a section of the vibraphone. The vibraphone also sits at the center of the composition, with a solo beginning halfway through the piece.
