Incandescence (2022)
for string quartet
Incandescence develops by presenting multiple musical ideas early on and gradually turning them into a readable language as the quartet progresses. The composition utilizes a hybrid 12-tone sound world, creating a unique yet understandable tonal system principally based on the minor second interval with no grounding key.
Incandescence was composed in memory of my late grandfather. He always loved my music and I miss him dearly, but he left a light in this world that can never be taken away. While the quartet tackles the ideas of loss and sorrow, it reassures its audience that the future will be bright due to the efforts of the past.
